Wilton 'fondant & gum paste' class grand finale cake.

Each of us came out with our own idea & we were very excited to see the final results! This class taught us a lot of fondant techniques including some flowers like carnations, daisy & fantasy flowers.
I am happy with my cake. 
Only one more wilton class to go, i.e WIlton 3. It's the only class where they teach fondant rose and tier cake. I'm thinking of doing it next year. We'll see...

My first fondant cake.

The decorations are very much impromptu. It was actually a sampler cake that I made for one of my Wilton 'Fondant & gum paste' lessons. I took off all the decorations that I had practiced on the cake except for the blanket/drape and began to decorate it to my daughter's preference. Nothing much, she just wanted A LOT OF HEARTS! So there....buat je lah sesuka hati....

My Wilton II grand finale cake.

I have many entries & gazillions of pics to be uploaded. But first! Here's my cake!!! My first ever for this kind of cake and am pretty satisfied with the outcome.
It's a double layer chocolate cake, frosted with buttercream. All of the flowers are made of royal icing except for the yellow chrysanthemums & yellow rose. I used buttercream for those two and that explains the slightly off appearance and colour compared to the others. The basket weave around the side of the cake takes a bit, but it looks really nice once done.
We learned a lot from this class. I think I have all of the flowers that we've learned from the class assembled on the cake. Victorian rose, chrysanthemum, dandelion, primrose, violet, dandelion, apple blossom, daisy and pansy. Made 2 blue colour flow birdies but I prefer not to put them on the cake.
And yes....my cake decorating tools collection are growing and growing...and going to grow some more...

Our 5th Anniversary.
|

We had dinner at Famous Hamburger, Dearborn the night before (Technically, it was already 7th August in Malaysia by then). I LOVEEE the chicken quesadilla!!! And daddy bought this bouquet of roses which he conveniently left at his office and had to go back the next morning (Saturday!) to get it. That's my hubs...always forgets...
Anyway, both of us actually "almost" forgot that it was our anniversary. It only occured to me the day before that, that our anniversary is actually tomorrow! Yikes! Since, we were already out, of course, we made a point to have a dinner to celebrate it.

Ain's 4th year medical check up.

This is the year when Ain is officially out of her "doctors & nurses phobia" zone! Same thing with her dentist visit last June. She is definitely getting a hang of all the stuff that going on during the visits.

Ain wearing foam crown and her old baby blankie as a cape. Called herself "Cinderella Ain".
Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries (red & gold) and blackberries. "Mix it all together mommy", is what she always said. A bowl a day of these is almost a must.
