Touring Boston, MA.

Full credits to mommy for planning where and how to go around Boston ni ya! Apparently, the best way to go around the city is by train/subway as most of the roads are not quite vehicle friendly due to lots of one way streets, poor signage (for city driving) and some of the roads are still in bricks! Thank God that we have a jogger stroller this time. It’s easier to handle and the wheels absorb some of the road bumps making the ride more comfortable for Ain. And! She gets to sleep more comfortably whenever she feels tired as it was a long, long, long…walk…Doesn’t matter if it’s slightly more bulky than umbrella stroller or it requires a bit more effort to fold it and hold on to it while on the train.
So we started with Boston Common, where Ain spent some time playing at the play ground and Public Garden. The garden was lovely! Lots of statues and swan boats! Passed by “Cheers” where the filming was done. People were swarming the front and quieng for entrance. A local, I suppose, offered to take our family picture.
We had a pleasant time (though tiring) walking in the city and managed to reach Faneuil Hall where we supposed to meet Azi and kids, shortly before 2 pm. It was a famous spot for street performers whom I’d say pretty entertaining. I managed to get some fridge magnets from some stalls and that was it. After that, the kids cuci mata at “Once Upon A Bear” with the myriad collections of teddy bear and it’s accessories. Ain chose a pink heart teddy bear and we just had to get it for her! Takpe, pakai coupon.
John successfully joined us and off we went to Quincy Market where people were swarming the food stalls and buzzing like millions of hungry bees! Seriously packed! Probably worse than pasar malam! We tried the clam chowder from Boston Chowda as recommended by John and Azi. It was yummy. I couldn’t help drooling at the lobster pie and had a try. Best tapi mahalll…
After everyone was replenished, we walked again..yes…to board a train which brought us to Cambridge. We had an opportunity to visit the Harvard Yard and walked through MIT area to get to John and Azi’s pad. Everyone was tired…except for the kids..of course. Ain was soooo excited to get to see and play with Leilani and Alana sampaikan kena hold hands all the time! She still say “ I want to see Alana” up till today. I just tell her that Alana lives in Boston which is very far. Maybe next time. Having learned the US map from the map puzzle that I had bought for her, she understood.
We ended the day by joining the Cambridge people watching the 4th of July fireworks along Charles River. It was an extravagant one indeed!!! I hadn’t even seen some of the fireworks before. So thumbs up (and toes too! ) for that.

Lets go!
|
|
Finally recovered from the aftermath of hosting Ain's birthday party and decided that we should make a move to Boston and Washington D.C today! Initial plan was to embark on Monday, but I was soooo tired that I just couldn't get myself up and about!
To create drama of the day, Ayah left the car's headlights on while loading up the car! We tried to jump start the car using our other car's battery but failed! Slowly, the day became gloomy and started to pour!!! :surprised: Finally resorted to call AAA and they came to the rescue in just half an hour time. Pretty quick I say, but we had already wasted a lot of time. I think it was already 7-8pm or something by the time the car was ok. Everything was already packed and ready and we were eager to have this trip, so apa lagi, lets just go! Ayah said he could handle driving in the night. So..oklah...
So we drove through Ohio, Pensylvania & New York to reach Boston. These are some pics taken when we made quick stops at rest areas somewhere in Ohio Turnpike and New York I think. We stopped to get some sleep...in the car...at a rest area in New York around 3am. Or was it Pensylvania? Had our prayers and woke up at 7am for breakfast at Denny's which was just across the street. Feels funny to have an Amish family eating next to you. I mean..they're Amish! What are they doing having breakfast in Denny's?! Managed to get wifi at McD, barulah nak book a hotel room in Boston for 2 nights.
Hit the road again by 9am or so and only made a stop at McD for lunch (besides several other stops for restroom and gas) before arrived in Boston. Sampai je Boston, cari Babies'r'us dulu sbb nak cari stroller rain cover as the weather hadn't been very promising during our journey to Boston. Reached Sheraton Hotel by 10pm and ordered a chicago deep dish pizza from UNO across the street. Alhamdulillah...

Ain's 3rd Birthday Party!
|
|
Ain's birthday is actually on 30th June. We had her birthday party at the club house this time around. It was a simple one especially when a lot of people were away for holiday in conjunction with Independence week. I whipped up some (Not!) beef lasagna (3 medium trays), chicken rice (3 huge trays each), banana cupcakes and fruit salad. Better overcooked than undercooked and caused some of the guests to leave empty-stomach.
Unfortunately, Ain had an insect bite on her left upper eyelid which ended quite bad, as seen in the pics. She kept on saying "my eye hurts.."but that didn't change her spirit. Kids!
Thanks K.Deng for helping me setting up the place and arranging the foods! Luv ya!!!
And of course, thanks for all the presents!!!
p/s: Will upload a video clip of her birthday cake cutting later.
